About the Distillery

Bumbu Original Rum is produced by Bumbu Rum Company, which was founded in Barbados. The company is dedicated to crafting exceptional rums with a nod to the maritime heritage and tropical traditions of the Caribbean. 

How this product is made

Sugarcane: Bumbu Rum starts with the finest sugarcane sourced from various Caribbean countries. The sugarcane is crushed to extract the juice, which is then boiled down to create molasses.

Fermentation: The molasses is combined with water and yeast to begin the fermentation process. During fermentation, the yeast consumes the sugars in the molasses, producing alcohol and creating a liquid known as “wash.”

Distillation: The wash is distilled in traditional copper pot stills. Distillation helps to refine the rum and separate the alcohol from impurities, resulting in a clear and pure spirit called “new make.”

Aging: Bumbu Original Rum is aged in oak barrels to develop its complex flavor profile. The aging process allows the rum to gain character, depth, and smoothness as it interacts with the wood.

Blending: After aging, the rum is carefully blended to achieve a consistent and balanced flavor profile that captures the essence of the Caribbean.

Bottling: The rum is then filtered and bottled at its optimal strength, ready to be enjoyed.

Appearance: Bumbu Original Rum has a deep amber color, reflecting its aging in oak barrels.
Nose: The aroma is rich and inviting, with notes of caramel, vanilla, and tropical fruits.
Palate: On the palate, the rum offers a complex and indulgent taste. Flavors of banana, toffee, spice, and hints of oak blend harmoniously.
Finish: The finish is smooth and long-lasting, with a subtle warmth and lingering sweetness.

Alcohol Content:
Bumbu Original Rum typically has an alcohol by volume (ABV) of around 35% to 40%, which is standard for premium rums.
