About the Distillery
Glenfiddich 23 Grand Cru is produced at the Glenfiddich Distillery, situated in Dufftown, Speyside, Scotland. The distillery was founded in 1887 and remains family-owned, making it one of the few single-malt distilleries still under family stewardship.
How this product is made
Ingredients: The whisky is made from 100% malted barley, selected for its quality and flavor characteristics.
Mashing and Fermentation: The malted barley is ground into grist and mixed with hot water to create a mash. The mash is then fermented with yeast, converting the sugars into alcohol. This produces a low-alcohol liquid known as “wash.”
Distillation: The wash is distilled twice in traditional copper pot stills. Glenfiddich’s copper stills are known for creating a light and elegant spirit.
Aging: After distillation, the whisky is aged in oak barrels for a minimum of 23 years. These barrels are previously used to mature bourbon or sherry, allowing the whisky to develop its rich and complex flavors.
French Cuvée Cask Finish: The distinguishing feature of Glenfiddich 23 Grand Cru is its finishing process. After aging, the whisky is transferred to French cuvée oak casks, which are used to mature premium Champagne. This finishing period imparts additional layers of flavor and refinement to the whisky.
Bottling: Once the whisky has achieved the desired balance of flavors, it is carefully bottled at its natural cask strength or diluted to the desired alcohol by volume (ABV).”

Appearance: Glenfiddich 23 Grand Cru has a rich amber color with golden highlights, reflecting its extended aging period.
Nose: The aroma is elegant and complex, with notes of honey, ripe fruits, floral hints, and a subtle oak influence.
Palate: On the palate, the whisky offers a luxurious and velvety taste. Flavors of orchard fruits, vanilla, and toffee are complemented by delicate floral and spice undertones.
Finish: The finish is long and lingering, with a balance of sweetness and oak, leaving a warm and satisfying aftertaste.
