About the Distillery
Havana Club 3 Años is a Cuban rum produced by Havana Club International, a joint venture between Cuba’s state-owned company, Cuba Ron, and French beverage company Pernod Ricard. The rum is crafted in Cuba, where it benefits from the country’s rich history of rum production and traditional aging methods.
How this product is made
Havana Club 3 Años begins with the selection of high-quality sugarcane molasses, a byproduct of the sugar-making process. The molasses is mixed with water and yeast to initiate fermentation, converting the sugars into alcohol. This fermentation process creates a liquid known as “wine” or “cane honey.”
The cane honey is then distilled in column stills, a process that separates the alcohol from the impurities, resulting in a clear and pure spirit known as ” aguardiente.”
After distillation, the aguardiente is aged for a minimum of three years in white oak barrels. During this aging process, the rum develops its smoothness and complexity as it interacts with the wood of the barrels. The aging also imparts subtle notes of vanilla and oak to the final product.
Following the aging process, the aged rum is blended and filtered to achieve the desired smoothness and clarity before being bottled.
