About the Distillery
Jack Daniel’s is one of the most famous and well-respected whiskey distilleries in the world. It is located in Lynchburg, Tennessee, and has a long history of producing high-quality Tennessee whiskey.
How this product is made
Mash Bill: The mash bill consists of a combination of corn, rye, and malted barley. This blend of grains contributes to the unique flavor profile of Jack Daniel’s whiskeys.
Fermentation: The mash is combined with water and yeast in fermentation tanks. The yeast converts the sugars in the mash into alcohol during the fermentation process, creating a liquid known as “distiller’s beer.”
Distillation: The distiller’s beer is distilled in copper stills to separate the alcohol from the solids and impurities, resulting in a clear liquid known as “new make” whiskey.
Charcoal Mellowing: What sets Gentleman Jack apart is an additional step known as charcoal mellowing. The new make whiskey is filtered through charcoal before it is aged in barrels. This process, also known as the “Lincoln County Process,” helps to smooth the whiskey and remove any remaining harshness.
Aging: The charcoal-mellowed whiskey is aged in new charred oak barrels, allowing it to develop its color, flavor, and complexity over time.”
