Malibu Coconut Rum is produced by Pernod Ricard, a French spirits company known for a wide range of popular alcoholic beverages. The rum is made in the Caribbean, where it benefits from the region’s tropical climate and access to high-quality sugarcane.
How this product is made
Sugarcane: High-quality sugarcane is harvested from Caribbean regions where the climate is ideal for cultivating this crop.
Molasses: The harvested sugarcane is crushed to extract its juice, which is then boiled down to produce molasses. Molasses is a key ingredient used in rum production.
Fermentation: The molasses is combined with water and yeast to initiate fermentation. During fermentation, the yeast consumes the sugars in the molasses, creating alcohol and transforming the mixture into a liquid called “wash.”
Distillation: The wash is distilled to separate the alcohol from impurities, resulting in a clear and pure spirit known as “new make” or ” rum distillate.”
Infusion: After distillation, Malibu Coconut Rum is infused with natural coconut flavor to achieve its signature tropical taste. This infusion process gives the rum its smooth and coconut-forward character.
Blending: The coconut-infused rum is then carefully blended to ensure a consistent flavor profile in each bottle.
Bottling: The finished product is filtered and bottled, ready to be distributed and enjoyed.”
