About the Distillery
Martell is one of the oldest Cognac houses, with a history dating back to 1715. It has a reputation for producing high-quality Cognacs and embracing innovation while maintaining the traditional Cognac-making methods.
How this product is made
Martell Blue Swift starts its journey as a traditional Cognac, following the usual Cognac-making process of harvesting and fermenting Ugni Blanc grapes, double distilling in copper pot stills, and aging the eaux-de-vie in French oak barrels. However, what sets Blue Swift apart is the final step of the aging process.
After the initial aging in French oak barrels, the Cognac is transferred to American oak barrels previously used to age bourbon whiskey. This “bourbon cask finishing” process allows the Cognac to interact with the bourbon-soaked wood, imparting unique flavors and aromas into the spirit.
Technical Details
Aromas: A delicate and fruity bouquet, with notes of candied fruit, dried apricots, and a hint of vanilla and caramel.
Palate: Smooth and rich, with flavors of honey, oak, and baking spices, complemented by a touch of bourbon sweetness.
Finish: Lingering and warming, with a well-balanced combination of Cognac and bourbon notes.
