About the Distillery
Mombasa Club Lemon Edition Gin is produced by the Mombasa Club Distillery, which draws its name from the famous Mombasa Club founded in 1885 in Mombasa, Kenya. The Mombasa Club was a gentlemen’s club frequented by British colonists during that period. The gin pays homage to this historical heritage while incorporating contemporary flavors.
How this product is made
Botanicals: Juniper berries form the essential backbone of any gin, and Mombasa Club Lemon Edition is no exception. In addition to juniper, other traditional botanicals such as coriander, angelica root, and cassia bark are used to provide a classic gin flavor base.
Lemon Infusion: The key characteristic of this gin is the infusion of natural lemon botanicals. Lemon peels or other lemon-related botanicals are macerated or steeped in the spirit to impart the distinctive lemony notes.
Distillation: The botanicals, including the lemon infusion, are placed in a still with neutral grain alcohol, and the mixture is distilled. The distillation process extracts the essential oils and flavors from the botanicals, resulting in a flavored gin with a lemon-forward character.
Alcohol Content and Dilution: After distillation, the gin is diluted with water to achieve the desired alcohol by volume (ABV), typically around 40% to 43%.
Bottling: Once the desired strength and flavor profile are achieved, the gin is carefully filtered and bottled.
