About the Distillery
Olmeca Tequila is produced by Casa Herradura, one of the oldest and most respected tequila producers in Mexico. The brand takes pride in using traditional methods and high-quality agave to craft their tequilas.
How this product is made
Harvesting and Cooking: The mature blue agave plants are harvested by skilled jimadores (agave farmers). The agave piñas (hearts) are then slow-cooked in traditional brick ovens to convert the starches into fermentable sugars.
Milling and Fermentation: The cooked agave is crushed to extract the agave juice, which is then fermented with yeast to produce a low-alcohol liquid called “mosto.”
Distillation: The mosto is double-distilled in copper pot stills to obtain a high-quality tequila spirit.
Aging: Olmeca Añejo Tequila is aged for a minimum of one year in oak barrels, allowing the spirit to develop more complex flavors and gain color from the wood.
Bottling: After the aging process, the tequila is carefully blended and then bottled for consumers to enjoy.
Technical Details
Aromas: Sweet with hints of caramel, vanilla, and oak, along with subtle agave notes.
Palate: Smooth and mellow, with flavors of toasted oak, butterscotch, and dried fruit, balanced with the agave’s herbal and earthy characteristics.
Finish: Lingering and warm, with a delicate sweetness and a touch of spice.

The alcohol by volume (ABV) of Olmeca Añejo Tequila is typically around 40%, which is the standard for most tequilas.
