About the Distillery
Edinburgh Gin Distillery is located in the heart of Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh. The distillery is known for producing a wide range of premium gins, each with its own distinct flavor profile. They use traditional gin-making methods and locally sourced botanicals to create their unique spirits.
How this product is made
Botanicals: The gin is crafted using a carefully selected combination of botanicals, which includes a variety of coastal elements. Juniper, of course, remains the key botanical in the gin, but other ingredients such as sea buckthorn, ground ivy, and bladderwrack, among others, are used to capture the essence of the Scottish seaside.
Distillation: The botanicals are infused and macerated in a neutral grain spirit before being distilled in copper pot stills. This distillation process allows the flavors of the botanicals to be carefully extracted and balanced.
Sea Buckthorn and Bladderwrack: Sea buckthorn and bladderwrack are particularly interesting botanicals as they contribute to the gin’s unique coastal character. Sea buckthorn adds a tangy citrus note, while bladderwrack imparts a subtle hint of iodine reminiscent of the sea.
Alcohol Content and Dilution: After distillation, the gin is diluted with water to achieve the desired alcohol by volume (ABV), typically around 43%.
Bottling: Once the gin reaches its ideal strength and flavor profile, it is carefully filtered and bottled for distribution.
