Tasting Notes
Intense ruby red with violet hues. The nose shows ripe red fruit with pepper and clove, and ripe plum and black cherry follow behind. On the palate blackberry and red currant lead, with juicy berry fruit and silky tannins. The oak shows as vanilla and cocoa on the finish, with a sweet toasty note at the very end. It is a full bodied red with the fruit in front.
Food Pairing
Full body, silky tannins and juicy berry fruit point to grilled and roast red meat. Grilled beef, roast lamb and beef empanadas are the strongest matches, and a slow cooked beef stew also works. About The Winery
Felipe Rutini, an Italian agricultural technician, founded Bodega La Rural in Mendoza in 1885, and the estate is one of Argentina’s oldest still in operation. In 1925 the family became one of the first to plant vineyards in Tupungato, now regarded as one of Mendoza’s premier regions. Mariano Di Paola has led winemaking since 1994. Rutini sells in over 60 countries. The wines are available through The Wine Box Kenya in Nairobi.
