The G.V.B White 2017 is shaped by structure and layering rather than overt richness. Sauvignon Blanc contributes lift, aromatics and line, while Sémillon builds weight and quiet depth. Oak aging adds contour and dimension, but never overwhelms the fruit.

Bright gold with youthful brilliance. The nose unfolds in layers, revealing ripe pear, white peach and citrus peel, followed by notes of honeyed apple, toasted almond and subtle vanilla spice. A gentle herbal nuance adds freshness.
On the palate, the wine is broad yet composed. Stone fruit depth, citrus tension and oak complexity move together through a textured, seamless mid-palate. Fresh acidity keeps the wine lifted, leading to a long, savoury finish with mineral persistence and quiet power.

The G.V.B White is Vergelegen’s flagship white blend, produced only in vintages where fruit quality reaches exceptional levels. It draws inspiration from the great white blends of Bordeaux, yet expresses a distinctly Stellenbosch identity shaped by maritime influence and cool vineyard sites.
The 2017 vintage is widely regarded as one of the Cape’s finest. It brings concentration, balance and natural freshness, resulting in a wine that combines richness with structure and long-term ageing potential.
