Unlike light, stainless-steel white wines, Château Musar White offers texture, savoury complexity and long ageing capacity. Its use of indigenous Lebanese grapes gives it a profile closer to mature white Graves, dry Sauternes or old white Rhône than conventional modern whites.

As a The Wine Box Exclusive, it introduces age-verified customers to one of Lebanon’s most distinctive white wines and a producer with significant international recognition.

Tasting Notes

The nose opens with ripe red apple, grapefruit, lime and orange blossom, layered with honey, vanilla, fresh hay and subtle herbs. These notes reflect the wine’s oak fermentation and extended maturation before release.

On the palate, Château Musar White is dry, textured and firmly structured. Obaideh contributes weight, honeyed citrus and creamy breadth, while Merwah brings herbal freshness, mineral tension and a more lifted citrus edge.

The finish is long and assertive, marked by caramelised apple, lemon peel, honey, basil and faint oak spice, leaving a savoury, age-worthy impression.

Food Pairing

Château Musar White works well with seafood dishes, pâtés, rillettes, creamy poultry dishes and richly spiced food, where its dry texture and honeyed citrus character can stand up to layered flavours. It is also well suited to aged cheeses and Mediterranean-style dishes.

It can also sit beside herb-led grilled chicken, especially where a more structured white wine is preferred over a simple crisp style.

Description

Château Musar White is a distinctive Lebanese white wine from the Bekaa Valley, made from Obaideh and Merwah with citrus, honey and spice.

Château Musar White is made from Obaideh and Merwah, two ancient Lebanese white grape varieties grown in mountain vineyards. Château Musar describes the wine as “seven years in the making,” with a style that is dry, citrus-led, subtly oaky and honeyed in youth.

The vineyards sit at high altitude, around 1,400 metres, with very low-yielding bush vines producing roughly 10–20 hl per hectare. These conditions contribute to the wine’s concentration, freshness and long ageing potential.

This bottle is listed as exclusive to The Wine Box, making it a distinctive Lebanese white wine option for age-verified customers interested in mature, structured and unusual white wines.

About The Winery

Château Musar was founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley. The Hochar family helped bring Lebanese wine to global attention, with the estate becoming known for wines shaped by altitude, patience and strong vintage character.

The estate’s white wines are especially distinctive because they rely on native grapes rather than international varieties. Château Musar White reflects the winery’s patient, low-intervention philosophy, with long maturation before release and a style built for ageing.
