About the Distillery
Courvoisier is one of the oldest cognac houses, founded in 1809 by Emmanuel Courvoisier and Louis Gallois in Jarnac, France. The house has a long-standing reputation for producing high-quality cognacs using traditional craftsmanship and aging techniques.
How this product is made
Grapes Harvesting: The process starts with the careful selection and harvesting of grapes, primarily Ugni Blanc grapes, which are used to produce the wine.
Distillation: The harvested grapes are fermented to create a base wine, which is then double-distilled in copper pot stills. This distillation process results in a high-proof spirit known as eau-de-vie.
Aging: The eaux-de-vie is aged for at least four years in oak barrels. Courvoisier VSOP Cognac includes a blend of eaux-de-vie with a range of ages, contributing to its complexity and maturity.
Blending: The master blender carefully selects and blends the aged eaux-de-vie to achieve the desired flavor profile and consistency.
Bottling: Once the blending process is complete, the cognac is brought to the desired bottling strength and bottled for distribution.
