Hesketh Wild at Heart Rose 2025

Unlike Provence-style rosés that rely on Grenache and Cinsault for a soft, round profile, Wild at Heart is built from a Wrattonbully multi-varietal blend using free-run juice exclusively. That production choice produces a leaner, crisper style with a mineral edge that Provence seldom delivers at this price point. Unlike sweeter, off-dry Australian rosés that mask structural weakness with residual sugar, this wine is fermented fully dry. For buyers in Nairobi looking for a dry rosé that functions as a serious food wine rather than a poolside sipper, this is a precise and well-made option from a certified sustainable producer.
Tasting Notes
Very pale blush pink with a faint salmon rim. The nose is clean and aromatic. Fresh strawberry, white peach and a thread of citrus blossom open first. Behind those, a delicate floral note and a faint minerality that speaks to the limestone soils beneath the Wrattonbully vineyards. The palate entry is light and zesty. The free-run juice origin is immediately apparent in the texture: fine, almost silky, with none of the grip that comes from extended skin contact. The acidity is bright and focused, carrying the fruit cleanly through the mid-palate. Watermelon and ripe nectarine sit in the middle, lifted by a nervy citrus thread. There is no sweetness on the finish. The wine closes dry, with a crisp lemon zest note and a faint mineral edge that lingers for 15 to 20 seconds. The defining quality here is restraint. This is a rosé built on texture and freshness rather than fruit weight, which makes it significantly more food-friendly than sweeter, more exuberant styles.
Food Pairing
Light skin contact and high acidity make this rosé a natural partner for seafood and lighter proteins. Grilled prawns, pan-seared white fish and fresh oysters are the strongest matches. The wine’s citrus acidity cuts through the brine and fat of shellfish cleanly. A simple green salad with a vinaigrette, soft goat’s cheese and charcuterie all work alongside a chilled glass. The dryness and fine structure also hold well beside mild spice. For a Nairobi outdoor gathering in warm weather, this is the bottle to open first. It is best served well chilled at 7 to 9°C, and should be drunk with the current vintage while the fruit is fresh.
What you Neew To Know
Is this rosé sweet or dry — most rosés I have tried have been too sweet for me?
Fully dry. Wild at Heart is fermented to zero residual sugar. The fresh strawberry and peach aromas can suggest sweetness on the nose, but the palate is clean, crisp and bone dry.
How is this different from a Provence rosé ?
Provence rosés are typically built on Grenache and Cinsault for a softer, rounder profile. Wild at Heart uses Wrattonbully free-run juice for a leaner, crisper result with a mineral edge. The structure is tighter and the finish is drier.
What is the best food to pair with this wine?
Grilled prawns, pan-seared white fish and fresh oysters are the strongest matches. Soft goat’s cheese, charcuterie and light salads also work well alongside a chilled glass.
How cold should I serve this and does temperature matter?
Serve at 7 to 9°C, well chilled. Rosé served too warm loses its freshness and the acidity falls flat. Keep it in the fridge until 10 minutes before pouring.
Does rosé need to be drunk young or can I keep this for a few years?
Drink it young. Wild at Heart is built for freshness. The fruit and acidity are at their best in the current vintage. Holding it for 2 or more years will dull both.
Is this a good gift for someone who does not usually drink wine?
Yes. The pale pink colour, light body and dry finish make it accessible across wine experience levels. It is also vegan certified, which is a useful detail for a considered gift.
What should I do if this bottle is out of stock?
Our customer service team can help you find a suitable alternative or source the product where possible. Reach out before your event.
How can I get Wild at Heart Dry Rosé delivered in Nairobi?
Nairobi orders placed before 9 PM qualify for same-day delivery, typically completed within a 1-hour window. Free delivery applies to orders above KES 3,000 within Nairobi. Orders outside Nairobi are delivered nationwide across Kenya within 24–48 hours.
Description
A pale, crisp, fully dry rosé from the Wrattonbully sub-district of South Australia’s Limestone Coast. Built for warm weather and a table of food, not for sipping sweet.
Hesketh’s winemaking team used free-run juice only, the cleanest and most delicate fraction of the press, and kept skin contact minimal. That decision preserves the pale blush colour and the fine, plush texture that distinguishes this style from heavier, deeper-coloured rosés. The wine is fermented to fully dry, which means the fruit character is genuine rather than sweetness masking thin wine.
Ideal for buyers who find most rosés too sweet, for a Nairobi sundowner where a chilled wine is needed, or for a gift where the recipient drinks white wine but is open to something with more character.
