About the Distillery
Jose Cuervo is a well-established tequila brand that has a rich history dating back to the late 18th century. The tequila is produced by the famous Jose Cuervo La Rojeña distillery, which is located in the town of Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico. This distillery is one of the oldest in Mexico and is responsible for crafting some of the finest tequilas in the world.
How this product is made
The production process of Jose Cuervo Silver Tequila follows the traditional methods of tequila-making, which primarily involves the Blue Weber agave plant. The agave plants are grown in the region around the distillery for several years until they reach maturity. At the right time, the agave hearts, also known as “”piñas,”” are harvested.
The piñas are then slow-cooked in ovens to convert the starches into fermentable sugars. After cooking, the agave is crushed and the juice, known as “”aguamiel,”” is extracted. The aguamiel is fermented using yeast to convert the sugars into alcohol.
Next, the fermented liquid is distilled at least twice in copper pot stills to achieve the desired purity and remove impurities, resulting in a clear and smooth tequila. The Silver Tequila is not aged or only aged for a brief period to preserve the agave’s natural flavors and maintain its crisp, clean character.
