How this product is made
Harvesting and Cooking: Blue Weber agave plants are harvested, and their spiky leaves are trimmed to reveal the heart of the plant, known as the ” piña.” The piñas are then slowly cooked in ovens to convert the starches into fermentable sugars.
Extraction of Juices: After cooking, the agave hearts are crushed, and the extracted juice, called ” aguamiel,” is collected. This juice contains the fermentable sugars necessary for the next step.
Fermentation: The aguamiel is fermented using yeast to convert the sugars into alcohol. This fermentation process can take several days and results in a liquid with a low alcohol content.
Distillation: The fermented liquid is then distilled at least twice in pot stills or column stills to increase the alcohol concentration and refine the tequila’s flavors.
Aging (for some varieties): For Olmeca Gold Tequila, the product is typically not aged or only aged for a short period (usually a few months) to preserve the tequila’s clear color and maintain its youthful character.
Blending: As a mixto tequila, Olmeca Gold is blended with additional sugars (usually cane sugar) to reach the desired flavor profile and sweetness level.
Bottling: The tequila is then bottled and made available for distribution and consumption.”

Olmeca Gold Tequila is characterized by a smooth and slightly sweet taste, owing to the addition of cane sugar. It retains the agave’s earthy and herbal notes, with hints of citrus and pepper. It is typically considered a medium-bodied tequila with a gentle finish.
